Breaking the Bell is a project of LightWorks Collective, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that operates LightHouse Holyoke, Creators Campus, venues, and maker spaces in Holyoke’s Canal District.
Grounded in practice. Open to other perspectives.
Since 2014, LightHouse has guided young people through real creative work for real audiences. That experience informs this publication’s questions about learning, human connection, and education in the age of AI.
A wider conversation
We are bringing together essays, interviews, field notes, and conversations from educators, young people, researchers, technologists, and other leaders. This is a space for strong arguments and thoughtful disagreement.
Our community
LightWorks’ three-building campus is home to LightHouse, Creators Campus programming, the De la Luz Soundstage, and the Divine Theater. Breaking the Bell connects ideas emerging from that community with a broader conversation.
